Dutch Bros Review

By: Avery Hudkins

You must be living under a rock if you have not heard of Dutch Bros before! The new and hip Oregon-based drive-through coffee place has made its way into Oklahoma and to say I am excited is an understatement. I visited the Dutch Bros on 51st and Yale since the one coming into Jenks is not open yet! Today I will be reviewing my entire experience at Dutch Bros and how I enjoyed my two purchases from there. So without further ado, let’s dive right in!

As I pulled into the drive through at Dutch Bros I immediately felt the good vibes it is famously known for. Good music blasting, friendly workers with nothing but smiles on their faces, and the sun was oh so perfectly setting at this time. I eagerly could not wait to place my order and talk to these strikingly-happy workers.

One thing I noticed about Dutch Bros is they have the same system as Chick-fil-A does. The workers move you in and out of their super quick system while maintaining a nice and polite conversation with you. As I looked over the menu I saw so many options that stood out to me.  Dutch Bros has so many amazing Holiday drinks out right now. I was very tempted to order the Peppermint bliss or the Cinnamon Swirl. The menu is very descriptive with what is in the drink and for someone who is a coffee freak like me I greatly appreciated that.

Finally, it was time to order. There were two extremely delightful girls taking everybody’s orders. I asked them for their most popular drink and they recommended I get the “Golden Eagle” if I was getting an iced coffee. So what did I do? I, of course, ordered it without hesitation. Then I decided to step out of my comfort zone and order the Hazelnut Truffle hot (not iced) as well.

My New Friends Drew and Mackenzie!

As it was time to get my two coffee orders I met the nicest and most energetic girl I have ever encountered in my life. Here comes Keionnie Clemons with my two drinks. As I asked Keionnie if I could take a picture of her for the Torch and explained to her it was for a review I am doing for our news publication, she lit up and was beyond thrilled to pose for a few pictures! Afterwards she ran back inside and shouted “I am going to be in a newspaper!”  I loved every minute talking to her. That is exactly the type of person you need working for you.

Now it is time to review the drinks! First I tried the Golden Eagle Iced, which consists of a creamy breve (basically an American variation of a latte with steamed half-and-half instead of milk, aka more fattening) featuring bold espresso, half and half, vanilla syrup, and caramel sauce, then it is topped with whipped cream and a caramel sauce drizzle. As soon as I tried it I thoroughly enjoyed it, however, it reminds me of when I order an iced vanilla latte at Starbucks. Although very similar, I will give the win to Dutch Bros. Their drinks are not overly sweet like Starbucks can be sometimes. I would order this any regular morning and enjoy it without a doubt. I give the Golden Eagle an 8 out of 10 rating. I will definitely be coming back to get it again sometime soon.

Golden Eagle Iced Coffee

Next up is the Hazelnut Truffle Mocha which, according to the website, is made up of hazelnut syrup and topped with Soft Top ( very creamy milk based topping) and caramel drizzle. I was feeling a little iffy about this one at first cause I usually steer towards iced coffee. I also was fearing for it to be too sweet. However I was so wrong. The Hazelnut Truffle was heaven. It was the perfect balance of sweetness and flavor. I was obsessed! I would say it was to die for. Some may call that dramatic but I was pleasantly surprised by this drink and definitely recommend it. I give the Hazelnut Truffle a 9.5 out of 10. Go try it now!

All around my experience at Dutch Bros was amazing! From the gratifying staff to tasty coffee I was so thrilled I visited there. I left Dutch Bros in a better mood than when I first arrived. I highly recommend it to everyone. Keep your eyes open Jenks, a new Dutch Bros will be arriving soon on South Elm Street. Go treat yourself one day by going there. I promise it is worth it. Dutch Bros, I will be back soon!
