Jenks Football Season Preview
By: Jack Denney
The Jenks Football Team will win the state championship in 2023-24, and here is why.
After winning back to back state championships in the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 seasons, our Trojans fell just short of three peating last season after they were unfairly cheated against the Bixby Spartans. However, the Trojans have already reloaded, and will win this year’s state championship with ease. My name is Jack Denney, and I am the president of the Superfans club, as well as an avid watcher of football on all levels, ranging from High school to Professional. Today I will be reviewing the Trojans schedule, reviewing it, and giving my game predictions.
Week 0: Edmond Santa Fe @ Jenks.
Edmond Santa Fe has become somewhat of a rivalry for the Trojans over the past couple of seasons, and especially during my tenure as a Trojan in high school. Not only did we defeat ESF in the state championship in the 2020 season, we also defeated them last year on their home turf, and only barely. I’m sure ESF fans have acquired some disdain for us Trojans, and that will only grow after this season with another victory tallying the Trojans scoreboard. This will be the Trojan’s first game of the season, and I’m predicting a sizable victory of 35-7.
Week 1: Jenks @ Owasso.
Jenks has dominated Owasso during my tenure as a Trojan, and I don’t expect this trend to end anytime soon. With Owasso losing their best player in wide receiver Cole Adams, I think the Trojans will have another easy victory over the Rams, even though it will be in Owasso. The Trojans travel well, and I doubt the Rams crowd provides much of a factor for our Trojans. However, I do think Owasso is better than ESF and will have momentum after a championship appearance last season, (if you want to call it that as they got blown out of the water) thus making my score prediction less of a deficit than ESF will herald, with a win of 28-14.
Week 2: Union @ Jenks.
Union is easily the biggest rival in all of Jenks history, and it seems like the hatred for each other has only ramped up after Union QB Shaker Reisig ditched the Trojans last season only to not even make the championship and have a penultimately disappointing season. While the Trojans were setting records, having a better quarterback, and breaking streaks, Shaker was headed to bed at 8:00 PM. The Redhawks had a weird season last year, with a confusing and shocking loss to the Rams en route to a championship game versus Bixby. I anticipate the Trojans to pounce on this loss in their third game of the season, and give it their all prior to a bye week. I predict a 42-35 victory in favor of the Trojans out of the fact that the games are always entertaining between the Trojans and the Redhawks, and I have a feeling this game will be one of the best in the series of all time.
Week 3: Bye Week
Week 4: Jenks @ Enid.
Enid should provide the easiest game of the schedule this far into the season. While we will be facing some of our toughest opponents our first three games, Enid will be much less of a problem for the Trojans. Although Enid could provide some trouble for us, I doubt it and I think the Trojans will easily prevail and win in convincing fashion of 45-7. Not much more to be said here, Enid just isn’t that good.
Week 5: Westmoore @ Jenks.
Westmoore will be coming to Jenks for Hometown Huddle, where the stands at Allan Tremble stadium will be absolutely packed and the Trojan family will be on full display. I anticipate an extremely loud game up until halftime when we’ll start to pull away at an uncatchable pace and the game will become almost boring because it is such a blowout. I anticipate the most dominating win for the Trojans of this season with a score of 65-3.
Week 6: Jenks @ Norman North
Weeks 4-8 mark the easiest stretch of games for our Trojans this season. Although Norman North did defeat us in our Homecoming game last season, it was an utter fluke, and was incredibly out of left field. I highly doubt a repeat of this loss, and although it will be in Norman, I doubt that will have much effect on us. I do think this will be the hardest of this four game stretch, thus making my score prediction 28-21 in favor of the Trojans.
Week 7: Moore @ Jenks (HOCO)
For our Homecoming game this season, the Trojans have selected Moore as our opponent. Although we did suffer a loss in last year’s homecoming game, Moore is a surefire win, and has never posed real threat to a state title in years. Moore did keep the game close against us last year, but I doubt in their ability to keep it close this year. Moore is going to be an easy win, and I do believe that homecoming will play a factor into this game, whether good or bad, we will see. I think the Trojans will win 35-21 and move on to the dance the following night.
Week 8: Jenks @ Southmoore
Southmoore should be the easiest game of the entire year for the Trojans, especially considering Southmoore suffered a 90-9 loss against us last year. I think that this number will only improve even though we will be in Southmoore, and maybe even hang triple digits on the scoreboard. The other side of this coin is that this will be the end of the easy game stretch, and we will end the regular season on two difficult games right before playoffs, which could urge coaches to play a little more conservative when we go up by a large margin.
Week 9: Jenks @ Broken Arrow
Broken Arrow etches the hardest part of the season beginning. The Tigers and Trojans had an all time classic game last season, which ended on Broken Arrow controversially deciding to go for a fake field goal, and not converting, while we marched down the field and ended it on a walk off field goal. Tigers Quarterback Owen Jones also has recently transferred to our school, and will be the expected starter. Not only did we take their quarterback from them, but also their running back Kaydin Jones, who will be an absolute weapon for our offense. Stealing an entire backfield in high school football is essentially highway robbery. I doubt BA will be able to keep this game as close as last year, and I think the final scoreboard will read 28-17.
Week 10: Bixby @ Jenks
Possibly the most anticipated game of the season. Everyone knows of the ESPN broadcasted victory of our Trojans defeating the Spartans and snapping the massive win streak heralded by Bixby, and everyone knows of Bixby marking their names in 6-A1 history books eternally after winning their first championship. While Union is our biggest rival, Jenks is easily Bixby’s, and they will come to play extremely angry for us ruining their precious win streak that they care so much about. Easily the game of the year last year in my opinion, and I could see the same thing happening this upcoming season. However, I think the score will differ slightly in favor of the Trojans due to them losing a large amount of senior talent. I think the final score will be 42-35, and the Trojans will end the season undefeated.
At the end of the day, I am nothing more than a super fan of the football team who has an immense amount of school spirit. I do not play football, but simply enjoy watching it. I hope you all enjoyed this review, and I hope you will all come out to support them this upcoming season!
