From Stealing Bases To Taking Rank

By: Goldie Krautheim

Jenk’s Softball steals rank as fast as bases. This season, Jenks Lady Trojan softball has been on fire. They have had an overall 37-7 wins versus losses, one of their wins giving them the title of 2022 Regional Champions. These girls have spent all season proving their phenomenal winning streak. They consistently strive for greatness and always try to develop their skill. Many of the girls on the team know how to play how they practice.

Jenks has many sports but the softball team is not talked about enough. Jenks Softball practices every day during sixth hour, 5 days a week. Not only do they practice a lot, they play even more. Jenks softball has two seasons: fast pitch and slow pitch. Each year these girls have twice the fun. Their fast-pitch season goes from early September to early October and their slow-pitch season starts in November and runs through late January. The team consistently puts the hours in for the school’s teams, and during the off-season, many girls join a competitive team.

Jenks has a reputation for greatness within its athletics department. Many Championships throughout all of our sports and Jenks lady softball has held that reputation well. They have been thriving in fast pitch and slow pitch for years. Not only have they had an amazing track record they have become a family.

Cali Worsham at Softball Practice

Cali Worsham, 11, has been playing softball for seven years. She is a pitcher on the Varsity team. Worsham enjoys playing with her team and the sport over all these years. Cali would describe her team as a Community.

“We all get along really well, we are like a family, we just have a good community that you can go to when you need help,”  said Worsham. “ I started playing mainly because my parents pushed me towards it, but I kept playing because of the community and my love for the game.”

Most of the team is in the same boat as Worsham, playing for years, and having that consistent love for the game. Jenks softball is a family, community, and team. You can follow them through their Slow pitch season starting this November. Click here for tickets!
