TikTok: The source of entertainment that every teenager seems to be consumed with. Through this app, many new trends, phrases, and even styles have been born. The majority of these new things consist of a backstory, or ‘lore’, as to why it has become popular. Explaining some of these new trends is a lot of work; for example, the purple heart trend. As you take a deeper dive into the year 2024,  you start to realize how much the media has changed us, and our latest obsessions.

The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye) is a Pop and R&B artist from Toronto, Canada; he has 3 mixtapes and 5 studio albums and countless awards. The Weeknd has revolutionized the sound of Dark R&B with his smooth vocals, dark almost evil lyrics and symphony. I am going to review every album and mixtape in chronological order with a star rating and give my opinion on how I felt on the album. I will also list my three favorite songs on the album and also give my reasoning why; Note these songs are for older teens and adults.

Like many other high school students I have a severe caffeine addiction and usually can’t go a day without consuming some form of it. Whether it be coffee or an energy drink I have tried so many different kinds. We’ve all tried the current chain coffee shops by our school like Starbucks and Dutch Bros, but a new phenomenon is currently being built, and it's known as 7 Brew. 

Every time I try to study in my house I feel like I'm the least productive person to exist. From wanting to crawl back into my warm bed and just go to sleep or my brothers screaming while playing some video game studying at home is just insanely difficult, but if I studied in a cafe every day my bank account would cry at the cost of having to buy some overpriced coffee just for a quiet warm place with wifi to get some homework done. Luckily libraries exist to give you a free study space with wifi. In this article, I’m going to rate the different public libraries all within eight miles of the school. I will rate the libraries on a scale of one to ten based on their noise level, their vibe and aesthetic, their seating, and their charging stations because we all know the school-assigned Chromebook's battery life is non-existent. Rating these libraries I’ll start off with the closest to the high school being only 0.4 miles away, and the smallest library I visited, and then will work our way out to the furthest library being just less than eight miles away.

As the freezing air touches our delicate skin- it begins to crack, peel, and sometimes even burn. The winter v.s. Delicate skin can be an excruciating battle, and oftentimes it seems like there is nothing you can do to win the battle. As someone who has struggled with acne for the past six years, finding a moisturizer that works for you can be extremely hard, but thanks to my extensive field experience, I have tried and thrown away plenty of moisturizers. This past October was the 14th anniversary of the release of the BBC’s Sherlock, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson respectively. The show would run for 7 years spanning 4 seasons. The final episode, cleverly titled “The Final Problem”, would air in January of 2017 capping off a television show that would inspire many people to venture into the Sherlock stories and the broader mystery genre.

We’ve always been told by our English teachers “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” Saying that the ugliest book could have the greatest story inside, so don’t just look at the appearance and pass judgment. As much as we are told this as kids we still judge books by their covers and how pretty they look. Even experienced book lovers, which I do count myself as, still judge books by their cover, and even every once in a while we cave into the need of just picking a really pretty book that would look good on our trophy case. I mean our bookshelves. There is a stereotype though that if you pick up a pretty book it’s either a really bad story or super dark.

I’ve spent most of my life lost in thought. When you’re someone who is constantly thinking and inside of their own brain you tend to get comfortable. It is like a safe space. But there comes times where you can’t control the thoughts happening in your brain. The future is a thought that takes over this space of mine quite frequently. I’ll sit in bed at night trying to think of where I see myself in 3 years, but it can be hard picturing myself anywhere but the present. The idea of the unknown can make more scary thoughts come into my safe space. Making me lost in thought more and more.

For as long as I can remember, hunting has had a significant impact on my life, whether I’ve liked it or not. Growing up, my meals were filled with venison and my snacks were composed of deer summer sausage. My house was decorated with antlers, in fact, the first thing you see when you enter my house is a skeletal deer head, and if you dare to walk a little deeper you would find a giant stuffed buck nailed to our living room wall. Growing up my two older sisters were given Hunter Annie’s instead of Barbie dolls, and any visit to Bass Pro Shop was a family outing.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard has had a prolific career, releasing 25 albums spanning multiple genres in just 13 years. From starting off as a garage rock band to now being one of Australia’s most well known bands with an overarching story across their albums known as the Gizzverse, it’s safe to say that they’re truly a once in a lifetime band.

Call me a middle-aged woman, but don’t talk to me until I’ve had my morning cup of coffee. Consuming unthinkable amounts of caffeine within a single day brings me more joy then I would care to admit. Latte, nitro brew, or just a good ole cup of coffee, doesn’t matter to me. Especially in a time that finals are nearing. Listen, I get it. You need a cute indie coffee shop to go sit and study at in order to actually get work done. But there’s one problem; you have no idea where to go.
